Agilent, a global developer and manufacturer of analytical instrumentation, is set to invest in the expansion of its Newport production plant.
The investment aims to increase the capacity of the lab-based manufacturing site.
Agilent plans to lease an additional 12,000 square feet of space adjacent to its existing facility.
Within this area, 9,900 square feet will be designated as lab space and will be equipped with new infrastructure, equipment, and instrumentation.
Over half of the remaining square footage will be utilized as a warehouse, storage, and shipping/receiving area.
The remaining space will be allocated for office use.
The expansion project is expected to create 10 to 25 new jobs over the next decade.
Currently, the Newport facility employs approximately 110 individuals.
The plant specializes in producing liquid chromatography columns used in chemical and biochemical analysis, drug discovery, environmental control, and analytical chemistry applications.
The expansion will involve adding new reactors, decommissioning an old one, and establishing new production laboratories.
