Dr. Faiçal Miyara, Jim Ziegler
Ascentage Pharma Group International, a global, commercial-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on discovering, developing and commercializing therapies for unmet medical needs in cancer, has appointed Faiçal Miyara, Ph.D., as Chief Business Officer (CBO) and Jim Ziegler as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO).
Dr. Miyara will lead the company’s global business development activities, while Ziegler will oversee commercialization of Ascentage Pharma’s products in the United States and other markets outside China. Both executives will report directly to Dajun Yang, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.
The appointments establish dedicated leadership for the company’s U.S. commercialization activities while strengthening its global business development capabilities.
Dr. Miyara brings more than 20 years of oncology-focused business development experience across global pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. Before joining Ascentage Pharma, he served as Chief Business Officer and a member of the executive team at IO Biotech. Previously, he was Vice President and Head of Global Partnering Oncology, Search and Evaluation, and Venture Capital relationships at Ipsen.
Earlier in his career, Dr. Miyara spent five years at Pfizer, where he co-initiated the company’s New York-based Center for Therapeutic Innovation and held senior R&D leadership positions. He also spent five years at ImClone Systems and Eli Lilly, contributing to the research, optimization and clinical development of oncology biologics including Erbitux® (cetuximab) and Cyramza® (ramucirumab).
Dr. Miyara holds a Ph.D. in Reproductive, Molecular and Cellular Biology from Université Pierre et Marie Curie (Sorbonne University) in France and a Master’s/Engineering degree in medical biology from the Faculty of Medicine Joseph Fourier in Grenoble, France. He has authored multiple book chapters, published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and is a lead inventor on three patents.
Ziegler brings more than 25 years of commercial and operational leadership experience in the biopharmaceutical industry. He has led global product P&Ls, built commercial organizations and supported product launches across specialty therapies, with expertise spanning commercialization strategy, market access, organizational development and cross-functional execution.
His previous experience includes senior commercial leadership roles at Amgen and Gilead Sciences, as well as emerging biotechnology companies Iovance Biotherapeutics and Geron, where he led global commercial teams. Before entering the biopharmaceutical industry, Ziegler served as an Armor Officer in the U.S. Army. He earned a B.S. from the United States Military Academy at West Point and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago.
The appointments strengthen Ascentage Pharma’s leadership in global business development and commercialization as the company advances its oncology portfolio toward broader international markets.
