Mark Throsby
ATB Therapeutics (ATB), a biopharmaceutical company developing next-generation antibody-based therapies for oncology and immunology, has appointed Mark Throsby, PhD, as Chief Executive Officer.
The leadership transition reflects the Company’s progression from an early-stage startup to a development-stage biopharmaceutical organization preparing for clinical advancement.
Dr. Throsby has served as ATB’s Executive Chairman and Chief Scientific Officer since 2024. During his tenure, he played a key role in securing the Company’s Series A financing, expanding its scientific capabilities, and advancing its therapeutic pipeline. As CEO, he will lead ATB’s strategic direction and executive leadership team as the Company moves toward clinical development.
As part of the leadership changes, co-founder Bertrand Magy has been appointed Chief Operating Officer, while co-founder Max Houry will take on the role of Chief Business Officer. In his new position, Magy will oversee operational activities and continue driving the development of ATB’s proprietary antibody weaponization technology platform. Houry will be responsible for business development initiatives, strategic partnerships, and licensing opportunities.
The leadership restructuring is designed to support ATB’s next phase of growth, with a focus on validating its technology platform and advancing its therapeutic candidates toward clinical-stage development.
Dr. Throsby holds a PhD in Immunology from Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, and completed postdoctoral research at CNRS in Paris. He began his biotechnology career at Crucell, where he served in several scientific leadership roles, including Director of Antibody Discovery. Prior to joining ATB Therapeutics, he held senior executive positions at Merus, including Chief Operating Officer and Chief Scientific Officer, contributing to the development of bispecific antibody therapies such as petosemtamab and zenocutuzumab. An expert in antibody engineering and immunology, Dr. Throsby has authored more than 50 peer-reviewed publications and is named on numerous granted patents.
