Amgen Announces Additional $300 Million to Expand Puerto Rico Manufacturing Operations

Amgen has announced an additional investment of $300 million to expand its manufacturing operations in Puerto Rico. The latest investment brings Amgen’s recently announced commitments in Puerto Rico to nearly $1 billion. The company has also revealed further investments across the United States, including $900 million in Ohio, $600 million in California and more than $1.5 billion in North Carolina.

It will increase production capacity for biologic medicines and integrate next-generation manufacturing technologies to improve operational efficiency and production processes.
The project will strengthen advanced manufacturing operations, support workforce development and create hundreds of construction-related jobs.
It will also enhance domestic pharmaceutical supply chain capabilities while supporting the continued production and global distribution of biologic medicines to more than 60 countries.
The investment is aimed at increasing U.S.-based production capacity, improving advanced manufacturing technologies and ensuring a stable supply of medicines for patients worldwide.
