BD Invests $110 Million to Expand U.S. Biologic Drug Supply Chain
Introduction:
BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) is investing $110 million to expand production of prefillable syringes at its Columbus, Nebraska site. The investment aims to strengthen the U.S. pharmaceutical supply chain, support reshoring of drug manufacturing, and meet growing demand for biologics and GLP-1 therapies.
Features:
The BD Neopak™ Glass Prefillable Syringe platform will be produced locally, supporting 1 mL and 2.25 mL formats and compatible with autoinjectors for clinical and at-home use.
The expansion will create around 120 new jobs and improve site capabilities, including additional production lines and cannula manufacturing enhancements.
The investment builds on a previous $35 million expansion of prefilled flush syringe manufacturing at Columbus, which added about 50 jobs.
The site, part of BD’s vertically integrated manufacturing network for over 75 years, will increase its capacity to supply high-quality injectable solutions in response to global demand.
Production at the expanded site is expected to begin in mid-2026.
