Grünenthal Invests €80 Million to Enhance Latin American Production

Introduction:

Grünenthal, a prominent pharmaceutical company specializing in pain management and research, has announced a significant investment in its Latin American production facilities, exceeding €80 million. 

Features:

Increase its reach across Latin and America, Europe beyond, this investment aims at enhancing the company’s manufacturing network.

In addition to the production of its own medications, Grünenthal has five production sites in Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Chile and Ecuador which also offer contract manufacturing services.

This investment is so far the largest in three decades into Santiago de Chile by the company.

New building has an area of 3500 square meters and can produce up to 1.8 billion tablets every year.

The expansion is aimed at increasing presence in Chile’s pharmaceutical market involving enhanced training and specialization for employees.

By November 2025, the site would be expected to comply with European Medicines Agency (EMA) regulations this will ease out exports to Europe.

On top of that, Quito-based manufacturing facility in Ecuador stands out among few others within Latin America approved for exportation into aformentioned continent. Thus it’s currently the only factory in Ecuador that holds EU Good Manufacturing Practice certificate.

Set on a piece of land measuring 50000 square meters, it will start producing tablets in 2025 solely for pain management patients across 17 different nations of Europe at a rate reaching up to 300 million tablets per year.
