Horizon Therapeutics to Expand its Development, Manufacturing Facility in Ireland
Introduction:
Horizon Therapeutics plans to increase the size of its manufacturing and development facility in Waterford, Ireland.
Features:
The facility will increase the company's current 44,000 square foot drug product (fill-finish) biologics facility by about 320,000 square feet. Horizon purchased the site in June 2021 for US$65 million.
The first medicines that are cleared for release from the current plant are planned to ship in 2023.
Both facilities will be used by Horizon for their commercialized biologic therapeutics for rare diseases and early-stage pharmaceuticals.
The upgrade is expected to create around 350 new jobs over time.
