Merck Invests €62 Million in New Quality Control Center in Germany
Introduction
Merck, a leading science and technology company, is investing €62 million in a new quality control facility for its Life Science division at its Darmstadt headquarters.
Features
The facility, spanning nearly 10,000 square meters, will bring together around 135 employees from various departments.
The new facility will meet the German Sustainable Building Council GOLD standard for sustainability.
It will feature regenerative energy generation, low-CO2 construction, and comply with special safety requirements for genetic engineering, biology laboratories, and dust-free labs with specific hygiene protocols.
This building is part of a larger €1.5 billion investment program at the Darmstadt site, planned for completion by 2025.
The labs will be GMP-compliant, a significant project aimed at ensuring the highest standards of safety and efficacy across its Life Science products.
They have over 25 specialized labs equipped with rigorous testing methods to detect and eliminate contaminants, thereby upholding stringent industry standards throughout the production process.
