Piramal Pharma Solutions Announces US$90 Million Expansion of U.S. CDMO Facilities
Introduction
Piramal Pharma Solutions has announced a $90 million investment to expand its manufacturing facilities in Riverview, Michigan, and Lexington, Kentucky, as part of its strategy to strengthen its contract development and manufacturing capabilities.
The project aims to increase production capacity for sterile injectable medicines and antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) therapies while supporting future customer demand.
Features
The Riverview site will be expanded with a new commercial-scale production suite dedicated to manufacturing ADC payload-linkers, which are key components used in targeted cancer therapies.
The additional infrastructure will improve the company's ability to provide integrated development and manufacturing services for ADC programmes and support larger commercial projects.
The Lexington facility will be enlarged by 24,000 sq ft, with the addition of a new laboratory and upgraded production equipment, including a filling line, commercial-scale lyophilisers, an automated vial washing system and specialised capping equipment.
Following the expansion, the site's annual production capacity is expected to rise from 104 batches to more than 240 batches at full utilisation.
The project is also expected to create 40 new full-time jobs, strengthen local manufacturing capabilities and improve supply chain resilience by increasing domestic pharmaceutical production in the United States.
