Siemens Invests $14 Million in Drummondville Plant Expansion to Advance Digital Manufacturing

Introduction

Siemens Canada has completed a major expansion and modernisation project at its manufacturing facility in Drummondville, Québec. The year-long project represents an investment of approximately US$14 million and is aimed at strengthening manufacturing capacity, improving operational efficiency, and supporting the growing demand for electrical distribution products across Canada. The expansion also reflects the company’s continued focus on digitalisation, sustainability, and local manufacturing.

Features

The expansion project at Siemens Canada’s Drummondville manufacturing facility included the opening of a second site and the addition of more than 40,000 square feet of production space.

The investment was designed to increase manufacturing capacity, improve operational flexibility, and support future growth across the company’s electrical products business.
A key feature of the project was the integration of advanced digital manufacturing technologies and automation systems.

These upgrades enable more efficient production processes, improved product quality, and enhanced overall productivity.

The facility layout was also modernised, while logistics capabilities were expanded to support smoother material handling and faster operations.

The upgraded facility manufactures a range of electrical distribution products for residential, commercial, and industrial applications.

With the expansion now complete, Siemens expects to achieve higher production volumes, greater flexibility in handling complex product requirements, and shorter delivery times for customers.

The project also supports growing demand from sectors such as smart infrastructure and data centres.

In addition, the expansion has contributed to regional economic development by creating approximately 40 new jobs and strengthening local supply chain activity through continued sourcing from Québec-based suppliers.
