Vetter Invests €500 Million to Expand New Saarlouis Injectable Drug Manufacturing Facility
Introduction
Vetter has started construction of its new pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Saarlouis, Germany, supported by an investment of nearly €500 million. The project will expand the company’s commercial manufacturing capabilities for injectable medicines and support increasing global deman d for complex drug products.
Features
The first phase of the project includes the construction of a 50,000 sqm manufacturing facility on a 95-acre industrial site, supported by laboratories, warehousing and other production-related infrastructure.
The site will feature three advanced cleanrooms dedicated to aseptic manufacturing, including two lines for filling pre-sterilised syringes and one line for vial filling.
The expansion is designed to strengthen Vetter’s production capacity for innovative injectable therapies while supporting future growth across its global operations in Germany, Austria and the United States.
The facility is also expected to generate between 400 and 500 jobs initially, with the potential to create up to 2,000 jobs in later development stages.
