Bo Cumbo
Stoke Therapeutics, Inc., a biotechnology company developing RNA medicines to restore protein expression, has appointed Bo Cumbo to its Board of Directors.
The appointment comes as the company advances zorevunersen, its lead investigational medicine for Dravet syndrome, toward potential regulatory approval and commercialization.
Cumbo brings more than 30 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, with expertise spanning commercial leadership, medicine launches and corporate governance. Since 2022, he has served as President, Chief Executive Officer and a Director of Solid Biosciences.
Before joining Solid Biosciences, Cumbo was the founding Chief Executive Officer of AavantiBio. He also spent seven years at Sarepta Therapeutics, from 2013 to 2020, holding several commercial leadership positions before becoming Chief Commercial Officer. During his tenure, he played a key role in bringing FDA-approved treatments for Duchenne muscular dystrophy to patients.
Earlier in his career, Cumbo held leadership positions at Vertex Pharmaceuticals, Gilead Sciences, GlaxoSmithKline and UCB Pharma, building experience across commercial operations and the biopharmaceutical sector.
Cumbo also has extensive board experience. He currently serves as a Director of Vor Bio and Climb Bio and previously served on the boards of Verve Therapeutics, RA Pharma and Clinical Supplies Management.
His appointment follows the retirement of Edward Kaye, M.D., from Stoke’s Board. Kaye joined the Board in 2017 and served as the company’s Chief Executive Officer from 2017 through March 2025. He will continue advising Stoke’s Board during the transition.
Cumbo holds a Bachelor of Science in Laboratory Technology from Auburn University.
