David Butler

Codexis, Inc., a provider of enzymatic solutions for efficient and scalable manufacturing of complex oligonucleotide therapeutics, has appointed David Butler, Ph.D., to its Strategic Advisory Board (SAB).

Dr. Butler will provide technical guidance, industry expertise and strategic insight to support Codexis’ continued growth, innovation and mission. As part of the transition, Carole Cobb will step down from the Strategic Advisory Board.

Dr. Butler brings more than 20 years of experience in the oligonucleotide field. Most recently, he served as Chief Technology Officer at Hongene Biotech Corporation from 2023 to 2026. Before joining Hongene, he led chemistry organizations at Wave Life Sciences, Korro Bio and Alltrna.

Earlier in his career at Alnylam, Dr. Butler contributed to the development of lipid nanoparticle (LNP) delivery technologies, which have become a foundation for modern mRNA-based therapeutics and vaccines.

Dr. Butler holds a BSc and Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of St Andrews.

His appointment adds extensive expertise in oligonucleotide chemistry, drug delivery and biotechnology development to Codexis’ Strategic Advisory Board as the company continues to advance its enzymatic manufacturing solutions.
