Engine Biosciences (Engine), a leader in pioneering cancer medicines through its proprietary machine learning and functional genomics platform, has appointed Robert (Bob) Abraham, PhD, as its new Chief Scientific Officer (CSO). 

Dr. Abraham brings more than 30 years of experience in oncology drug discovery and development, joining Engine at a pivotal stage as the company advances its research and therapeutic programs.

Throughout his distinguished career across biotech, pharma, and academia, Dr. Abraham has played a key role in the development of 11 FDA-approved oncology drugs. He most recently served as Executive Vice President and Head of Cancer Biology at Odyssey Therapeutics and previously as Chief Scientific Officer at Vividion Therapeutics (acquired by Bayer).

Earlier, during a decade at Pfizer, he held the position of Senior Vice President and Worldwide Head of the Oncology R&D group, overseeing global cancer drug discovery and early clinical development. He joined Pfizer following the acquisition of Wyeth, where he was Head of Oncology Discovery Research.

In addition to his industry leadership, Dr. Abraham has held academic appointments at the Mayo Clinic, Duke University, and the Sanford-Burnham-Prebys Medical Discovery Institute. He has authored more than 230 peer-reviewed publications, with over 59,000 citations, and is internationally recognized for his contributions to cancer biology, immunology, and signal transduction. Dr. Abraham earned his PhD in Pharmacology from the University of Pittsburgh and completed postdoctoral training at the Mayo Clinic.
