Mark Van Oene
Pacific Biosciences of California, Inc., known as PacBio, a developer of high-quality and highly accurate sequencing solutions, has appointed Mark Van Oene as President and Chief Executive Officer.
Van Oene, who previously served as PacBio’s Chief Operating Officer, succeeds Christian Henry, who has stepped down as President and CEO after six years in the role. Van Oene will also join PacBio’s Board of Directors.
Henry will remain on the company’s Board and serve as a business advisor through at least the end of 2026 to support an orderly leadership transition. He will work closely with Van Oene during the coming months to facilitate a seamless handover.
Van Oene joined PacBio in 2021 as Chief Operating Officer and has played a key role in advancing the company’s operational execution, commercial strategy, product development and clinical application initiatives. He has also led efforts involving AI-related product enhancements and collaborations.
During his tenure, Van Oene has worked closely with PacBio’s executive leadership team and Board of Directors to strengthen the company’s position in long-read sequencing and support the expansion of its technology across research and emerging clinical applications.
The leadership transition places an experienced PacBio executive at the helm as the company continues to expand adoption of its sequencing technologies and develop new applications across the life sciences.
