Novotech, a globally recognized full-service biotech clinical research organization (CRO), has appointed Dr. Anand Tharmaratnam as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Dr. Tharmaratnam officially assumed the role of Chairman and CEO, marking an important leadership transition as the company continues to expand its global footprint. Reflecting Novotech’s increasingly international operations, he will be based at the company’s new global headquarters in Singapore.

Dr. Tharmaratnam brings nearly 30 years of experience in the global CRO industry and has served as Chairman of Novotech since 2021. His appointment follows a structured and carefully planned succession process. In September 2025, former CEO Dr. John Moller announced his decision to step down after nine years in the role, following the successful completion of Novotech’s capital raise in March 2025. That financing introduced GIC and Temasek as new investors, alongside long-standing partner TPG.

A critical care physician by training, Dr. Tharmaratnam previously spent 23 years at Quintiles and its successor organization, IQVIA. During his tenure, he held several senior leadership positions, including 10 years on the global executive committees, and served as Head of Asia and Japan until 2020. His experience spans large-scale clinical operations, global strategy, and market expansion.

As Chairman of Novotech over the past four years, Dr. Tharmaratnam has played a key role in guiding the company’s expansion into new markets and strengthening its innovative clinical research service offerings. With his leadership, and continued support from TPG, GIC, and Temasek, Novotech is well positioned to accelerate its growth as a leading global, biotech-focused CRO.
