Veranova Appoints Dr. Matteo Villain as Vice President of Peptides and Oligonucleotides

Veranova has appointed Dr. Matteo Villain as its new Vice President of Peptides and Oligonucleotides, bringing four decades of deep expertise in peptide and oligonucleotide development, manufacturing, and commercialization.

A seasoned Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Controls (CMC) leader, Dr. Villain has led the development of more than 60 peptide APIs, guiding them from early-stage process development through scale-up, validation, and cGMP manufacturing in compliance with global regulatory standards (ICH Q7A, Q11).

Most of his career was spent at Bachem Americas, Inc., where he held senior leadership roles including Vice President of R&D, Vice President of GMP Manufacturing, and Vice President of CMC Development. He also founded MV API Consulting and most recently served as Global Peptides Technical Lead at Piramal Pharma Solutions.

Dr. Villain earned his Doctorate in Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Science from the University of Milan and completed postdoctoral fellowships at The University of Alabama (Birmingham) and the University of Geneva. He is an active contributor to Tides USA and US Pharmacopeia (USP) events.

With his appointment, Veranova reinforces its commitment to advancing leadership in the TIDES space and delivering innovative peptide and oligonucleotide solutions to the global market.
