Jason Berndt
Lonza has appointed Jason Berndt as Head of Group Operations, Executive Vice President, and member of the Executive Committee (EC), succeeding Maria Soler Nunez, who will assume the newly created role of Chief Quality Officer and Executive Vice President, remaining on the EC.
Jason Berndt brings over 20 years of global experience in operations, manufacturing, supply chain management, and network transformation. Before joining Lonza, he served as Head of Global Technical Services and Senior Vice President at Bristol-Myers Squibb. His previous roles include leadership positions at Teva Pharmaceuticals, Procter & Gamble, and McKinsey & Company. A former US Army officer, Jason holds a Bachelor of Science from the United States Military Academy at West Point and an MBA from the University of Michigan.
Maria Soler Nunez, who joined Lonza in 2022 as Head of Group Operations, has successfully led engineering, procurement, supply chain, and operational excellence functions. As Chief Quality Officer, she will oversee global quality, regulatory affairs, and compliance across Lonza’s network.
A Spanish national with 28 years of pharmaceutical experience, Maria previously served as Chief Quality Officer at Novartis and held leadership roles at Eli Lilly and Company.
Oliver Schläfli, Lonza’s current Global Head of Quality, will support the transition and continue advising on key projects until his retirement in 2026.
