Rui Wang
Evotec SE has appointed Rui Wang as Executive Vice President and Head of Global In Silico and AI.
In this role, Wang will lead the company’s efforts to integrate advanced computational science, artificial intelligence, and data-driven decision-making across its research and development operations.
Wang brings more than 20 years of experience helping pharmaceutical and biotechnology organizations implement scalable data, analytics, and AI strategies across research, drug development, manufacturing, and supply chain functions. At Evotec, he will focus on developing enterprise-wide solutions that embed AI and in silico capabilities into the company’s scientific and commercial operations, further strengthening its technology-enabled drug discovery platform.
Prior to joining Evotec, Wang served as Head of Data, Analytics and AI at AstraZeneca, where he spent more than a decade in positions of increasing responsibility. During his tenure, he played a key role in advancing the use of data science and artificial intelligence to support innovation and operational excellence across the organization.
Earlier in his career, Wang held positions at the European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI), where he contributed to bioinformatics research and data-driven scientific initiatives. He also worked at Tangram Therapeutics, formerly known as e-therapeutics, gaining experience in computational approaches to drug discovery and development.
Wang holds a Master of Science degree in Bioinformatics from the University of Manchester and a Master of Science degree in System Design for Internet Applications from Newcastle University.
His appointment reflects Evotec’s continued commitment to expanding its computational and AI-driven capabilities, enabling more efficient drug discovery, enhanced scientific decision-making, and the development of innovative solutions for pharmaceutical and biotechnology partners worldwide.
