Roxanne S. Austin
AbbVie has announced the appointment of Roxanne S. Austin as the lead independent director of its Board of Directors.
Austin succeeds Glenn F. Tilton, who has served in this role since 2013. Tilton will continue as an independent director on the AbbVie Board.
Richard A. Gonzalez, Chairman and CEO of AbbVie, praised the appointment, noting, "One of AbbVie's greatest strengths is its experienced, diverse, and highly independent Board of Directors, committed to the highest standards of corporate governance. Roxanne’s appointment reflects a thorough and deliberate process by the independent directors, who believe her experience and leadership make her highly qualified for this role. Her insights since joining the Board in 2013 have been invaluable, and her new role comes at a crucial time as Rob Michael transitions into the CEO role on July 1."
Gonzalez also acknowledged Tilton's contributions, stating, "Glenn’s guidance has been crucial to our strategy and success, and his leadership has greatly elevated the Board. I look forward to continuing to work with him."
Glenn Tilton expressed his support for Austin, saying, "The independent directors were unanimous in their support for Roxanne as lead independent director.
